About Us About Us
Pros For America's Youth which uses the website name Pros For Youth because it is easier to find on the Internet was founded by Mark Hannah in West Virginia in 1988. It was moved to Arizona where it inlisted the support of many former professional athletes to help in the anti-drug and gang problems that were facing our youth. After several years of going from high school to high school, introducing our program to the students that were "high risk", we regonized that the problem started at a much younger age. We found that most drug problems are "gradual bad habits" that many times start with smoking. We have made studies on tobacco use and found that this is a major health issue facing the youth of this country. Kids look up to athletes and will listen to a former or current professional athlete about almost any subject. However, after many years of trying to get funding for our kNOw Tobacco Program and getting no where because the "Big Tobacco" companies influnce on government with thier powerful lobby. We have changed directions to help another problem that is growing every year and now is almost an epidemic in all of our schools across the country. We, as either current or former athletes, understand how important a good diet and exercise is for one's health. We also have found a new product called the "Healthy Straw" that will help in this major health issue. It is a product that has no fillers or additives and is in a powder form in a straw that you open the outside wrapper and dump into a glass or cup of water. Once the sealed bottom is opened and releases the "Freeze Dried" product into the water. Then you merely stir the drink and you have a product that tastes really good and refereshing but has no sugars or preservites or carbs. We will introduce this to the schools for their fund raisers and lunch programs. This product will have vitamins and other healthy ingredients. This will be just a small part of our program that we will introduce to the schools across the country. We at Pros for America's Youth Foundation have contacted eighteen Hall of Fame athletes with the help of one of the best baseball player and one of the best person that ever lived, Harmon Killebrew. www.harmonkillebrewfopundation.org We lost Harmon this year to cancer. Harmon directed us to get the following Hall of Famers to help us in our fight against childhood obesity. He will always be a part of our organization as long as we exist.
